Gargoyles Re-Sign Braden Doyle for 2026-27

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Gargoyles, proud ECHL affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes and the AHL's Chicago Wolves, announced today that the team is re-signing defenseman Braden Doyle to a contract for the 2026-27 season.

“I’m very excited to come back to Greensboro as one of the second year returners,” said Doyle. “Being able to come in with more confidence this year, I hope to develop into one of the leaders in our room. Between the staff and the fans, I made a lot of meaningful connections here. There is a lot of unfinished business, and I am grateful to be a Gargoyle again.”

Doyle appeared in 42 games across the ECHL and AHL with the Gargoyles and the Wolves during his rookie season in 2025-26. The 24-year-old was a member of the Gargoyles Inaugural Game lineup on October 18, 2025. He made his AHL debut two weeks later on October 29, 2025 for Chicago. With the Gargoyles, Doyle recorded eight points (1G, 7A) in 32 appearances.

The Lynnfield, Massachusetts native was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He was invited to the Carolina Hurricanes Rookie Camp in 2025 and earned a spot on the Canes’ top defensive pairing during the Prospects Showcase. Doyle capped off a four year collegiate career at Niagara University in 2024-25 after one season at Boston University and two seasons at Northeastern University, producing 20 points (3G, 17A) in 81 NCAA games.

“Braden is a versatile defenseman who will bring valuable AHL experience to our backend,” said Head Coach Mitch Giguere. “He plays a reliable 200-foot game, competes hard, and understands what it takes to win. We're excited to welcome him to Greensboro and believe he'll be a big part of our success this season.”

Doyle joins Artyom Borshyov on defense along with forwards Demetrios Koumontzis, Shane Ott, Thomas Freel, and Tyler Cristall on the Gargoyles' 2026-27 roster.
