Gargoyles Welcome Cullen Ferguson for 2026-27 Season

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Gargoyles, proud ECHL affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes and the AHL's Chicago Wolves, announced today that the team has signed defenseman Cullen Ferguson to a contract for the 2026-27 season. Ferguson was acquired from the Bloomington Bison following the 2025-26 season.

Ferguson, 25, was the Captain at Union College before turning professional following the 2024-25 NCAA season. He joined the Fort Wayne Komets for seven games, recording the first two ECHL points (1G, 1A). He signed with Bloomington ahead of the 2025-26 season where he appeared in 65 games, posting 13 points (1G, 12A) as a rookie.

“Cullen will bring leadership and valuable playoff experience to Greensboro,” said Head Coach Mitch Giguere. “He’s a mobile defenseman who takes pride in his ability to move the puck and will help us get out of our zone efficiently. Combined with his strong defensive play below the hashmarks, we’re excited to see Cullen establish himself as a consistent and reliable presence on our back end.”

The Binbrook, ON native was a four-year standout at Union, playing in 144 career games. He followed career highs as a Junior with 18 points (3G, 15A) and 37 games played by scoring 16 points (4G, 12A) in 36 games as a Senior. Ferguson finished his NCAA career with 51 points (9G, 42A) from the blueline.

Ferguson joins defensemen Artyom Borshyov, Braden Doyle, and Austen May, along with forwards Demetrios Koumontzis, Shane Ott, Thomas Freel, and Tyler Cristall on the Gargoyles' 2026-27 roster.
