Carolina Hurricanes Open 2026 Prospect Showcase, Hosting Nashville Predators

RALEIGH, NC – The defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes open the 2026 Prospect Showcase on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Nashville Predators at Lane Arena.

Puck drop is set for 2:35 PM, with the game streamed live and free on Hurricanes.com.

The Hurricanes’ roster features the next generation of NHL talent, including Bradley Nadeau, Felix Unger Sorum, and Charles-Alexis Legault, who have combined for 28 regular-season NHL appearances with Carolina.

Hurricanes goaltending prospect Ruslan Khazheyev, who appeared in 41 games with Greensboro in the ECHL last season, is one of two goaltenders suiting up for Carolina during the showcase. Khazheyev looks to build on his .894 save percentage from last season as he enters his third season under contract with the Hurricanes.

The Greensboro Gargoyles have four players under contract for the 2026-27 season who received invitations to the Prospect Showcase.

Austen May appeared in the final 14 games of the Gargoyles’ inaugural season after turning professional following a four-year NCAA career. May begins his rookie season with an opportunity to showcase his elite skating ability as a puck-moving defenseman.

Oskars Briedis, 20, will draw attention as he prepares for his first season in North America. The 6-foot-3, 187-pound defenseman brings an established international résumé, most recently serving as captain of Latvia’s U20 team at the World Junior Championship.

Tyler Cristall will get his first taste of professional hockey. The 24-year-old forward graduated from St. Lawrence University following a career-high 31-point season (10G, 21A) in 34 games as a senior. Cristall finished his four-year career with the Saints with 77 points (27G, 50A) in 134 games.

Chase Lefebvre will also begin his professional career on Sunday. The 22-year-old Kapuskasing, ON native played three seasons in the OHL before recording 20 points (7G, 13A) in 28 U SPORTS games at Toronto Metropolitan University last season.

Carolina will also host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, September 15 at 2 PM.

The Hurricanes return to Greensboro later this month, hosting the Nashville Predators at First Horizon Coliseum on Thursday, September 24, at 7 PM. The preseason matchup will mark the return of NHL hockey to Greensboro for the first time since 1999.
