GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Gargoyles, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes and the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, promote learning through movement. Tuesday afternoon, Gargoyles Forward Casey Severo and Goaltender Tyler Brennan visited Sumner Elementary School and gave multiple 4th-grade classes exposure to the basics of hockey.
The classes were excited to hear about Severo and Brennan's experiences in their professional hockey careers. Severo demonstrated multiple drills, from basic stickhandling to tight turns and even juking, and the students improved throughout the afternoon. Brennan answered questions and ensured everyone had fun. Then the classes participated in a friendly wager between the teachers and their students as they guessed whether their teachers could score while going through the same exercises.
The Gargoyles picked up their first win of the season Sunday evening to improve to 1-2-1 on the season. The Gargoyles will hit the road for the first time this season, this weekend they will have a home-and-home series against the Norfolk Admirals. Friday and Saturday in Norfolk, and Sunday back at home in First Horizon Coliseum for Sunday Funday, puck drop at 3 pm.
