Gargoyles Win their Fourth in a Row, Beating Maine 5-2
GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Gargoyles came away with a 5-2 victory over the Maine Mariners on Friday night at First Horizon Coliseum. Greensboro built an early advantage, fought off a push from Maine in the second period, and regained control late to secure the win.

The Gargoyles wasted little time getting on the board, as David Gagnon opened the scoring just 1:15 into the first period with assists from Shane Ott and Matthew Quercia. Quercia added a goal of his own at 5:23, assisted by Cullen Ferguson and Ott, to give Greensboro a 2-0 lead after the opening period.

Maine responded in the second, with Antonio Venuto scoring at 5:34, before Ben Allison tied the game at 4:30. With the game tied at 2-2, Greensboro answered late in the period when Braden Doyle scored unassisted at 1:07 from the blue line, sending the Gargoyles into the second intermission with a 3-2 lead. Doyle finished the contest with one goal and one assist.

Quercia struck again at 7:34 in the third on the powerplay, with assists from Tyler Cristall and Doyle to give Greensboro some much needed breathing room. Parker Lindauer then capped off the night with 15 seconds remaining to seal the 5-2 victory.

Ruslan Khazheyev had a 24 save effort and captured his career-high 3rd consecutive win. The Gargoyles finished 1-for-4 on the power play and stopped three of four penalty kills.

Greensboro and Maine finish their three-game series on Saturday, November 7 as Wizard Weekend flies into the night. Tickets and more information are available at gargoyleshockey.com.
